Codex
of ethics Codex of Ethics was enacted on the 10th of May, 2006, s during the Board meeting of Directorate
The members of Association of Building consultants and Supervision Companies concede and refer to the regulations of the codex of ethics of FIDIC - the International Association of engineers and consultants. The members of Association of Building Consultants and Supervision Companies (hereinafter – the members of Association) acknowledge that the work of engineer – consultants and supervision specialists (hereinafter – the engineer–consultants) is very important to guarantee further harmonious development of building processes, interests of society and safe living environment. Striving for harmony and effectiveness, not only the engineer – consultants always have to defend their professional knowledge and improve skills, but the society as well has to respect their honesty, impartiality and rely on the decisions made by the representatives of this profession and repay for their work properly. All the members of Association approve and agree that the recited principals are essential and applicable to the members’ behavior, intercommunication, business sphere and striving for the society trust. Members of association and engineers consultants hired by them must: 1. Responsibility to society and profession: 1.1. Take professional responsibility in front of society. Follow and defend interests of society in one’s activity. 1.2. Look for decisions which could mach the principals of harmonious expansion. 1.3. Always sustain professional competence, self-respect, dignity and reputation. 1.4. Express professional opinion only on the grounds of appropriate knowledge. 2. Competence: 2.1. Sustain one’s knowledge and abilities at the appropriate technological, legislation and management development level. Thoroughly, considerately and competitively supply customer with services. 2.2. Do not supply with any kind of services if a lack of qualification or competence is felt. 3. Honesty: 3.1. Always represent legitimate interests of the customer and honestly, honorably and qualifiedly accomplish professional services. 4. Impartiality: 4.1. Remain objective giving professional advices, evaluating and making decisions. 4.2. Inform customer about any possible conflict of interests that might come up while accomplishing the assignment. 4.3. Do not accept payment which influences independent decision making. 5. Rectitude towards others: 5.1. Follow concept „Selection based on Quality”; 5.2. Neither carelessly nor deliberately disgrace other persons’ good name or business. 5.3. Do not disclose confidential information and business matters to the third parties without customer’s agreement. 5.3. Neither directly nor indirectly make an attempt to occupy work place of the other member of Association or engineer – consultant which is already appointed to accomplish certain assignment. 5.4. Do not overtake the project of the other member of Association or engineer – consultant if the mentioned member or engineer consultant was not informed beforehand and if the written permission and the request of a customer, who dissolves former agreement, were not received. 5.5. In a case of request to revise a work of the other member of Association or engineer – consultant, it should be done with a proper professional respect. 6. No corruption: 6.1. Do not offer and do not accept payment with which it is being endeavored: 6.1.1. to influence the selection process of engineer – consultant or his / her payment; 6.1.2. to effect independent decision of the member of Association or engineer – consultant. 6.2. Reject any kind of bribery. 6.3. Absolutely cooperate with juristically formed examination institution which executes analysis of any service or building agreement. 7. Partnership and solidarity: 7.1. Be fair and principled in respect of the other members of Association while speaking and acting. 7.2. Do not take part and do not tolerate intrigues against the member or members of Association. 7.3. Exchange the information, knowledge and experience among the members and share all the matters which are important to the common interests of the members of Association. 7.4. To give priority to the member of Association while taking part in the incorporated or subcontracted activity if such kind of actions do not prohibit preserving an appropriate competition degree in the society and do not have manifestation of cartel business. 7.5. Treasure unblemished name, image and good reputation of the member of Association. 7.6. Do not disgrace or degrade the prestige of the Association member with one’s behavior, actions and public speeches. 7.7. Do not endeavor to attract employees from one’s colleagues neither directly nor with a help of employment agencies, except in those cases when employees on their own initiative show some kind of interest to get a job at the other company. 7.8. On the Association scale strive for the solidary provision of a work for the specialists of the specific and not that busy business sphere if that kind of actions do not prohibit preserving an appropriate competition degree in the society and do not have manifestation of cartel business.
